Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FestiClip B.V. ("FestiClip", "we", "us") collects when you use our app and website, why we collect it, and what rights you have over your data. We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. What we collect

• Account data — name, email address, and optionally a profile photo.
• Festival activity — clips you upload, the location and timestamp attached to each clip, your route while tracking is on, and the festivals you attend.
• Device data — device type, operating system, app version, crash logs and basic diagnostics.
• Usage data — which features you open, what you watch, and what you save (so we can keep improving the product).

2. Why we use it

• To show your route, your clips and nearby clips on the festival map.
• To stitch your aftermovie from your own footage and contributions from other festivalgoers.
• To send you nudges about artists you told us you care about.
• To provide aggregated, anonymised insights to festival organisers (see Section 5).
• To keep the service safe — moderate harmful content, prevent fraud, and meet legal duties.

3. Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of (a) the contract you enter into when you create an account, (b) your explicit consent for location tracking and clip sharing, and (c) our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and improving it.

4. Sharing clips with other festivalgoers

Clips you upload are visible to other festivalgoers who were near the same place and time. You can set any clip to private at any time, delete it, or remove your face from clips that contain you. Personal identifiers (your username, profile photo) are only attached to a clip if you choose to publish under your name.

5. Sharing data with festival organisers

Organisers receive aggregated and anonymised signals only — heat-maps, dwell times, watch-back retention. They never receive your individual route, your clips, or your identity.

6. Where data is stored

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union. Some sub-processors (for example, error-monitoring providers) may process limited data outside the EU under Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

Account data: while your account is active, plus 12 months after deletion for legal and accounting reasons. Clips: until you delete them or close your account. Diagnostic logs: 30 days.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from inside the app, or by emailing privacy@festiclip.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
